Pakistan Olive Summit 2.0 Highlights Future of Pakistan’s Olive Sector

The Al Baraka Bank Pakistan Olive Summit 2.0, organized by the National Alliance for Safe Food, was held at Serena Hotel, Islamabad, bringing together national and international stakeholders to strengthen a safe, sustainable, and export-ready olive supply chain in Pakistan.

The summit gathered policymakers, diplomats, researchers, and industry leaders to discuss strategic opportunities for advancing Pakistan’s olive sector and improving the competitiveness of the country’s olive value chain.

The event was honoured by H.E. Rana Tanveer Hussain, Federal Minister for National Food Security and Research, alongside distinguished diplomats from the Embassies of Jordan, Palestine, Indonesia, and Malaysia. A notable presence was H.E. Marilina Armellin, Ambassador of Italy to Pakistan, highlighting the strong partnership between Pakistan and Italy in the development of the olive sector.

A key highlight of the summit was the presentation by Dr. Marco Marchetti, International Senior Expert at the OliveCulture ScaleUp Project, who introduced the Draft National Olive Policy and Action Plan. The presentation outlined a strategic roadmap designed to strengthen Pakistan’s olive industry through improved policy frameworks, enhanced production capacity, and stronger value chain integration.

In another session, Dr. Costantino Parma, Regional Area Manager at CIHEAM Bari, moderated a panel discussion featuring olive farmers from Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Farmers shared their experiences, success stories, and insights from the field, reflecting the growing momentum of olive cultivation across Pakistan.

The summit served as an important platform for collaboration between government institutions, international partners, and farmers. It reaffirmed a shared commitment to innovation, policy development, and international cooperation aimed at building a competitive and sustainable olive industry in Pakistan.
